Saturday Night Live has been accused of being anti-British following it's 'unfunny' dig at Aimee Lou Wood's teeth.

Last week, Aimee, 31, hit out at SNL for their 'mean' skit - which saw comedian Sarah Sherman wear huge prosthetic teeth while parodying Aimee.

For weeks, Aimee's teeth have been a hot topic of discussion, with the actress admitting the conversation has been fuelled by Americans who learnt of the star from watching The White Lotus.

Comedian Ronni Ancona, 56, believes Aimee 'was the victim of that old archetype, a very tired trope that British all have bad teeth' as she blasted writers.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday, she said: 'It was a bit of a cheap shot, really, because she's quite right. I'm no dentist, WordPress SEO Backlinks but I don't think fluoride changes the shape of your teeth. I think she's got beautiful teeth.'

Georgia May Jagger has led a wave of Brits leaping to the defence of Aimee after her teeth were cruelly mocked in the SNL sketch.

Since Aimee spoke out about the criticism she has been inundated with support from followers and celebrity peers who have told her to embrace her unique smile.

Among those was model Georgia, 33, with the fellow Brit - who is famed her own gap-toothed smile - writing on Instagram: '@aimeelouwood is gorgeous', six weeks before the SNL skit.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show last month, Aimee confessed she was shocked by the discourse, admitting: 'I can't believe the impact my teeth are having. The Americans can't believe it.

'They're being lovely [and there's] videos of orthodontists coming up analysing my teeth. They dissect my teeth and say, "What's wrong with them?" and at the end go, "But I don't think she should change a thing!"

She concluded: 'It's a real full circle moment after being bullied and now people are clapping.'

Fellow chat show guest Stephen Fry praised the actress for not succumbing to peer pressure and changing her smile, noting: 'All the roles you've played that I've seen you in, [your teeth have] actually enhanced.'

Referencing a Vanity Fair article, he went on: 'They wrote about your teeth, which sounds like a small thing but you've obviously made an enormous amount of people happy by not changing your teeth, which are... you know, they're notable.

'Like my bent nose but yours are better,' he continued, 'and you obviously had a time where some people would've said to you: "Oh you should get those corrected" but you stood up for them and they're part of your character; all the roles you've played that I've seen you in, they've actually enhanced.'
